Description: In an era of social fragmentation, disinformation, and intense media consolidation, community media centers (CMCs) have the opportunity to contribute to local civic renewal as hubs for community-engaged news and information exchange. CMCs excel in community building, uplifting community voices, and catalyzing local problem solving. In this interactive session, you will learn about CMC-based local journalism projects that are already underway, think together about what is possible, and explore what resources you most need to embark on a local journalism-civic information initiative in your community.

What to Expect • A Taste of Wisconsin & the Midwest: Enjoy locally sourced food, regional beverages, and Wisconsin’s signature charm — from cheese curds to craft brews, it’s all about sharing the best of what the Midwest has to offer. • Entertainment: TBA • Meet & Greet the PEG Community: Whether you’re a longtime ACM member or a first-time attendee, this is your chance to network with friends, colleagues, and new faces in a relaxed and welcoming environment. • Support Community Media: This event also serves as a fundraiser to support the mission of ACM Midwest and Wisconsin for Community Media- WCM — helping to sustain training programs, regional outreach, and local media access across our states.
